A superb British-bred variety with attractive red-veined leaves, good vigour and a wonderful peppery taste. Plants are bolt-resistant, so don't run to seed, allowing you to keep picking the leaves over a long period.

Growing Information

Sow thinly Mar-Aug into a finely raked seedbed at a depth of 6-13mm (¼-½") and cover lightly with soil. Germination usually takes 7 days. Transfer seedlings when large enough to handle allowing 20cm (8") between plants. Use the thinnings in salads. Water well during spells of dry weather. Grows best in well cultivated soil in a sunny position. Can also be grown on a windowsill indoors September-March. (4-10 weeks maturity.)
