Butterfly Wildflower Mix Seeds

Our Native British Wildflowers range has been developed from research conducted by Butterfly Conservation, BBKA, RSPB and the Woodland Trust.

This butterfly mix contains over 30 native species of wildflower and includes many nectar-rich species. Attracts butterflies & other beneficial insects to the garden, it also includes caterpillar food plants.

Suited to planting in domestic flower beds, containers and large pots, area coverage is 1-2 square metres depending on how thickly sown. Flowers late May-early September.

Created specially for the butterflies, this mix of seeds is inspired by Butterfly Conservation who are celebrating their 50 year anniversary. Sir David Attenborough, President of the wildlife charity Butterfly Conservation, is actively urging people to take action for butterflies and moths this year, to mark the 50th anniversary.

You can do your bit by planting this beautiful mix, which contains handpicked species that are well known for their relationship with butterflies. This dramatic mix of mainly perennials, also contains biennials and annuals.

Growing Information

To prepare for sowing, clear the area of vegetation in advance and cultivate the top 5cm (2"). There is no need to dig too deep as doing so would also bring potentially unwanted weed seed to the surface. In an ideal world, allow any existing seed to germinate and kill/remove the seedlings. Rake over the area to create a fine tilth and sow the seeds lightly on the surface. Lightly rake or tread in the seed. Do not bury the seed too deep as it may hinder germination. Keep moist.
